A word a day is a treadmill; you remember none of them. Parlance gives you one word a week — uncommon, precise, worth having — and leaves it with you long enough to use it. It arrives on Sunday evening as a quiet notification, and it waits.

The source

Words from where you already listen

Pick a source: a show whose writing you admire, a podcast you never miss, or a text you paste in yourself. Parlance draws each week's word from the register of that source — the vocabulary it actually uses — so every word comes with a reason it matters to you.

When the word comes from your own text, the app shows you the passage it came from. When it comes from a show or podcast, it describes how that source speaks — it never invents a quotation. If we can't verify it, we don't show it.

There is nothing to sign up for. Your progress lives on your device. Text you paste is used once, to build your word list, and is not used to advertise to you or sold to anyone. The details are short enough to actually read: the privacy policy.
